I always wanted to believe that 'America's Stonehenge' in Salem, NH was a mystical, ancient ceremonial place of wonder. Now the only wonder I have is marred with disappointment.

One of the centerpieces of this attraction is the 'Sacrificial Table' which a UNH anthropological achaeologist recently commented that it " bears the same sort of drainage channels that would be found on a rock slab used to make soap. "  Which is more consistent with the 19th Century process of this craft.

Still, many people flock to this mysterious grouping of stone formations and with The Autumnal Equinox happening on Wednesday, Druid enthusiasts can observe of the light and shadow patterns for just $12.
