Local author Carl Johnson has written a book about the 2016 Red Sox season.

Carl Johnson writes for the Biddeford Journal Tribune called 'Baseball World' and covers the Red Sox. He will be at the Dover Public Library on April 17th at 6:30pm.

"Big Papi and the Kids" is about David Ortiz's last season as a player with the Red Sox when the Sox won the American League East Championship. Ortiz was credited with being the leader of that squad which included a number of young players.

Ortiz tutored players like Mookie Betts who is 24, Blake Swihart, 25 and Jackie Bradley Jr. all of 26 years old.

Author Johnson is a lifelong student of baseball and often lectures on the history of the game.

The event is open to the public and is free.
