It was way back in July when we first heard of the escape of 'Dino the Cockatoo' from his home in Brookline, MA. The people of that neighborhood have been hearing from him ever since. He was finally captured yesterday and that's good news for everyone AND Dino.

Cockatoos cannot handle winter weather, as this WBZ piece explains, any temps below 50 degrees are very harmful to that species.

Here's a video example of the dinosaur-like sound that Dino was screeching above the rooftops of Brookline for the past three months. (That horrible sound is how he got his name.)

They captured him by following his feeding routine, eventually he became so regimented and trusting during his breakfasts that they were able to cage him. Luckily just in time before the arctic chill of winter closes in.

These Cockatoos Need a Home!A-Train loved spending some time with Sweat Pee and Larry Bird today. These two cockatiels are up for adoption at the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, with no adoption fee, and they come with a free cage!Learn more: http://www.cvhsonline.org/

If you'd like to 'capture' a couple wonderful cockaTIELS for your own, (Not Cockatoos), here is my CVHS piece from last week. I guarantee that 'Larry Bird' and 'Sweet Pea' are wonderful birds that would NEVER menace an entire neighborhood.
