This New Hampshire Restaurant in an Old Mill on a River is Worth the Drive From Anywhere
New England has a plethora of beautiful restaurants, but the Common Man, located in Claremont, New Hampshire, is a stunning property that's worth the drive from anywhere in New Hampshire.
Claremont, New Hampshire
Claremont is located on the West side of the state, on the Vermont border, approximately 30 minutes South of Hanover, New Hampshire. If you are traveling from the Seacoast, it is approximately 2 hours away, depending on where you are.

As you may be aware, the Common Man is part of a chain of restaurants owned by Alex Ray, a well-known New Hampshire restauranteur. I am a big fan of any of the Common Man properties, (wine down Wednesdays, cheese and crackers while you wait) this particular location is a little bit nicer.
Like many restaurants around the State of New Hampshire, this property used to be a mill, much like the Foundry in Manchester, NH, to name just one.
The Common Man, also in a Mill Building in Claremont, also boasts a Wedding Venue and an Inn, located on the banks of the Sugar River.
The Inn at the Common Man
Should you book your wedding at the Common Man in Claremont, be assured that the rooms at the Inn are just beautiful with some rooms equipped with their own jet tubs, fireplaces and river views.
The Ballroom has exposed beams, brick walls and big windows that look out to the Sugar River.
If you've never been to the Common Man in Claremont, it really is worth the drive. I love exploring places right here in New Hampshire that are just as beautiful as any place in New England, maybe in the entire U.S.
