Hampton Beach has a Long History of Being a Cool Place

I fell down a rabbit hole on the internet found a cool video of the history of Hampton Beach on YouTube.

It showcases the history, and some of the pictures from back in the day are wild.

According to the video, the place really started to party when a trolley line and railroad made Hampton Beach a popular resort town. Back in the 1850s, most of Hampton Beach was still a farming community and native Americans still camped out on the beach.

The mixture of tourists and people that made Hampton their hometown year-round must have been fascinating.

To see the old cars lined up in front of the Hampton Beach Casino from around the early 1900s show that it was hopping back in the day.

It’s crazy to see how many clothes people wore to the beach around the turn of the century. People dressed in full dresses and suits, most probably made of wool seem crazy today.

Before Electricity and Water

Of course, Hampton Beach has always had a spectacular ocean view, but I can’t imagine visiting anywhere without Air Conditioning, even a beachfront cottage.

It wasn’t until 1907 the Hampton Beach Village put together an infrastructure with electricity and a water treatment facility for fresh running water, according to the video.

The fire was always a threat and the Town had its first fire station back in 1923, and it's still running from Ashworth Avenue, the video notes.

According to the text in the video, the Hampton Beach Playground was established all the way back in 1920, and the first Miss Hampton Beach was crowned back in 1946.

Since then, the entertainment events have evolved to include the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival and the Master Sand Sculpting Completion.

Looking at the photos in the video is a reminder that time is fleeting.
