If you were born after 1983 and are not a degenerate gambler, you may want to search elsewhere for fast-moving short attention span content that may be slowly rotting your brain. This article is for the older folks like myself whose brains have rotted away years ago...and I loved every word of it.

Back when 45 cents was worth about $1.20 by today's standard, sports gamblers would call lines like these(some for 99 cents per minute) as their only update source for ongoing games. As you can imagine, waiting for the paper boy to deliver the final score in a newspaper the next day must have been tedious.

As we all know now, one click of an app can give you nearly any score you need in real time. My go to website is dannysheridan.com which updates scores and odds every minute. Any broadcast sports tv website (espn.go.com,cbssports.com and nbcsports.com are just 3 examples) can give you the score you're looking for in a few quick seconds.

To be completely honest, the only 99 cents per minute phone line I ever called was Friday Night Video Fights on MTV. I can't believe I found the actual 'Match' that I voted for...if memory serves, Def Leppard won. RIP Kevin Dubrow and RIP Sports Phone...wherever you are.
