Crews from Wright-Pierce will force the non-toxic, harmless smoke into the system looking for leaks.

Some smoke may enter homes and businesses if there are dried up drain pipes or defective plumbing. The smoke does not stain clothing or furniture and there is no fire hazard.

If you notice smoke entering your home, contact the crews conducting the test or call 516-6450.

Residents in areas being tested can fill any seldom-used drain with water to prevent smoke from entering.

The areas to be tested with be notified in advance with door hangers on doorknobs in the affected properties.  Work is being done from 7 am to 3 pm.

For information, call the Dover  Community Services office at 516-6450.
