Wow, the family feud seems to continue.  Will the employees have to fight for Artie T like they did 10 years ago?

Market Basket CEO Artie T has been placed on "administrative leave" by the Board of Directors of the Tyngsboro, MA based supermarket.

WCVB, Channel 5, obtained a copy of the letter that was sent to the employees of Market Basket.

The letter states,

While Mr. Demoulas is on leave, an investigation will be conducted that will include a review of credible allegations that the CEO began to plan a disruption in the business and operations of Market Basket, The Board believes that these steps were taken by Mr. Demoulas and others in retaliation against the board for requiring that the CEO work collaboratively with the Board regarding basic company operations and plans.

RELATED10 Years Ago, One of the Biggest Stories in New England Was About Market Basket and Loyalty

Artie T. Demoulas issued this statement:

Under Mr. Demoulas’ leadership in December of 2024, the company paid off $1.6 billion in debt that financed the purchase of the company in 2014. The company is currently operating at its peak performance and the notion that this board is going to conduct an investigation is a farcical cover for a hostile takeover.

Will Market Basket Employees Have to Fight for Artie T Again?

At the time of the protests in 2014, employees of Market Basket came to Artie T's defense.  I remember employees defending Artie T for his generosity and kindness.

There are things that we don't know that went on inside the board room.  For me, it's a little frustrating given the fact that even our beloved Market Basket is getting expensive.  It's a billion dollar company.  I hope this doesn't lead to what happened in 2014.
