Exeter Still Bringing Santa Claus to Town With ‘Reverse Parade’
2020 has been a bummer for most of us, but the ones who are really feeling it right now are the kids with lots of things being cancelled.
There are several parades that are not happening this year because of the pandemic, but the Exeter parade is not one of them! It is, however, going to look a little different, according to a press release.
Exeter is holding a Drive thru Holiday Celebration at Exeter High School on Saturday, December 5, 2020, which is the traditional date of the first Saturday in December. (YAY! Tradition! Normalcy!)
The Exeter high school will be all decked out with holiday lights and displays, lots of inflatables and other holiday scenes. And YES, everyone will have the opportunity to see SANTA!!! (at a distance, of course.)
The event is FREE and it will be from 5 to 8 pm.
Here's how it will work, per the press release: All the holiday displays will stay stationery, and everyone can drive around the high school to view the displays! A "reverse parade," if you will. Cars will not be allowed to stop and you have to stay in the car at all times.
I bet Santa will be the last thing you see! I'm just guessing, but I know that if I saw Santa, I would be too excited to go on to look at anything else.
There will be no fundraising that night in order to maintain a safe flow of traffic. The parade committee is reaching out to the community, however, for some help. If you have an artificial full-size Christmas tree that you would like to donate, they'll take it! Even if the lights don't work anymore, they can put decorations on it to make it look beautiful.
Did I mention, this event is FREE to the public?
