There are finally buildings and signs up for the proposed gas station just off Exit 4 in Raymond, New Hampshire.

Nouria, which has an incorrect address listed online, is still under construction, but it looks like it's getting close to being open.

The development is right next to the Raymond Fire Department and the Raymond Police Department on Scribner Road.

When I went to the location yesterday, I counted 14 regular gas pumps and more Diesel pumps in the back of the building.

In recent history, chicken fingers have become almost a staple item at the gas station and this looks like it will be no exception.  There is a sign for Krispy Krunchy Chicken.  So, you can buy your lottery tickets and your lunch in one stop.

Raymond Development Has Been Hotly Contested for Years

In 2008, according to Seacoastonline, there was a $60 million dollar multi-use project slated for this location called "Granite Meadows."  Target was supposed to be one of the stores to occupy the space.  Granite Meadows was also supposed to have a hotel, a restaurant, 192-unit condominium project and more than 100,000 square feet of retail space.

From living in the town since 2002, I have heard about this project over the years.  There were problems getting the go-ahead, but I'm not sure specifically what they were.

As a resident, I am not wild about it.  Will it bring jobs to the area, yes, but it will also bring traffic and people.  Two things that I would like to keep to a minimum in Raymond.

On the other hand, the bigger the town, the more popular it becomes as a destination.  Does that mean that our property values go up?

What do you think?  Do we need this in Raymond?
