A friend of mine came in to the studio this past week and asked me if I had ever been to a Nordic spa.  I said I hadn't been to that part of Europe before.  He said, "oh no, Sarah.  It's here in York, Maine."

Color me surprised.

The Field at Bell Farm Shops at 244 U.S. Route 1 in York, Maine is host to a Nordic Spa which includes;

  • A Sauna
  • Cold Plunges
  • Cozy Fire Pit
  • Fancy Robes, towels and Slippers
  • Nordic treats and nonalcoholic hot and cold bevvies.

The Nordic Spa isn't very expensive either.  You'll pay $50 for an hour an a half experience that you can't usually find around here.

The space can hold 6 people and you will be sharing the space with others.  If you want the place all to yourself, just book all 6 tickets.  Some might call that the price of privacy.

Northern Europe Nordic Spa Right Here in New England

Scandinavia is also known as Northern Europe.  It includes the countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and sometimes Finland and Iceland.  These countries are not known for their bright sunshine and warmth.

Nordic Spas are supposed to rejuvenate your whole system, physically and emotionally.

Have You Been in a Cold Plunge?

I've heard that cold plunges are "all the rage" right now, but I just don't think I could stay in ice water for any amount of time, no matter what the promise was for well-being.

At one point in my life, during a photo shoot for a local photographer, I was asked to take off my boots and socks and walk in the snow.  I literally thought I was damaging my system it hurt so badly.  The pain was extreme.

At this Nordic Spa in York, I am sure you don't have to do the artic plunge if you don't want to.  It sounds like they offer other things that sound lovely.

This is meant to be a Winter activity, so make sure you check when they are offering this service and when they are not.
