New Hampshire COVID-19 Numbers Continue to Trend Down

Last night's release of statistics regarding New Hampshire's battle to suppress COVID-19 showed some good trends and the lowest levels of crucial numbers that have been seen for months.

As the calendar turned from September to October last year, the cases of COVID-19 in New Hampshire began to skyrocket and were compounded by three separate surges.

All three surges have been directly attributed by the holidays that preceded them. In fact, Halloween of 2020 marked the day in which the troublesome milestone of 200 new daily cases were recorded for the first time.

The new cases from yesterday's data?198.

And the 7 day average of new cases now, is 328, that's as low as that number has been since November 14.

The number that many people are fixated upon as the leading indicator, is total active cases. That number is seeing a nice trend as well.

Tuesday's data shows that there are 2,857 active cases, which is as low as that number has been since November 12.

The total hospitalization stat is currently at 119, which is as low as that level has been since before the 'Thanksgiving Surge' sent those numbers climbing to unprecedented levels.

It certainly appears like New Hampshire is on 'the other side of the mountain' as far as the 'Post Holiday Surge' is concerned.

Here are just a few of the Seacoast town COVID case numbers, including active and total cases as of Tuesday, February 16, per the NH Department of Health and Human Services:

Dover - 61 active cases, 1760 total cases
Hampton - 26 active cases, 911 total cases
Portsmouth - 46 active cases, 1111 total cases
Rochester - 49 active cases, 1438 total cases
Seabrook - 25 active cases, 515 total cases

But with the different variants of COVID-19 that have been proven to be more contagious, we must stay vigilant.

Hopefully, the steady increases of weekly allotments of vaccines will continue to suppress this pandemic and the brighter future we've been looking forward to for nearly a year is within our grasp.
