Wow! I feel proud to live in a community where our beach is one of the safest in the country.

Did you know that the Hampton Beach lifeguards made 583 rescues this Summer alone? But wait there's more! They also reunited 83 lost children with their parents! That is something worth honoring, and according to Seacoast Online, there was a well deserved ceremony this past Monday to do just that.

Selectmen Chairman Jim Waddell said:

“This has been a very confusing summer with a lot of changes and disruptions. One constant has been the outstanding performance of the Hampton Beach lifeguards. An exceptional group of dedicated young individuals.”

The chairman was then corrected that not all of the lifeguards are that young, according to Seacoast Online, and lifeguard Stephen Carol will be turning 69 this year. He is still keeping up with the young bucks and going strong!

The article states that these life guards do so much more than make rescues. This past summer they helped an 88-year-old woman onto the beach with a special beach wheel chair. They saw her struggling on the side walk and stepped right in. Once they heard she really wanted to go into the water, they helped make that happen too!

Shout out to all of the Hampton Beach lifeguards for an excellent season and thanks for making our beach one of the safest in America.
