Whoa!  It seems like Hearth Eatery and Bar just opened in downtown Portsmouth.  Their last day of business was June 11, 2025.

They made the announcement on their Facebook page.

Hearth Had a Space for Everyone

I remember when it first opened only a couple years ago that it was just a pizza place, but it had so much more than that.

They had a bar with servers and cocktails if that was the vibe you wanted.

There were a lot of "mini-restaurants" in Hearth.  For instance, if you were in the mood for pizza, but your partner was not, they could accommodate both of you.

Their meals were hearty and delicious.

The outdoor space at Hearth was a beautiful hang, but I'm not sure they could prevent people from hanging out there, even if they were not patrons of the restaurant.

You could go from sitting at the bar at Hearth to more of a coffee shop vibe on the other side of the space. The desserts were amazing! They had everything from chocolate candies to ice cream.

There were some comments on social media that said maybe it was too much of a "Boston" vibe or "big city" vibe for Portsmouth?

There were others that thought it was, at times, a food court atmosphere with people who hung out for hours at a time.  You know, the way we used to do when we went to the Mall.
