Exeter, New Hampshire

I can't imagine the heartbreaking loss felt by Sergeant Jeremy Cole's family of Exeter, New Hampshire.

J-Cole, as the students called him, was a security officer at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts.  On his way home in the early hours of Thanksgiving morning, he may have been dreaming of turkey, mashed potatoes and spending time with his wife and four children.

His life, however, was tragically taken by the driver of a Tesla headed in the wrong direction on I-95 in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving day, according to WMUR.

The news station reported that before the impact, Massachusetts and New Hampshire state police had made visual contact with the wrong-way driver and had prepared a tire-deflation device in Georgetown, Massachusetts, but before the vehicle reached the device, it hit Cole's Chevy Trailblazer in Newbury.

Cole was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wrong-way driver, who is expected to face charges, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Boston hospital by helicopter, according to WMUR.

I-95 was closed for several hours in both directions.

Cole and his wife have four children.  They will now face a myriad of issues to say the least, one of them that will be looming are all the bills.   Although there is nothing that we can do to bring Jeremy back, we can help with the expenses.

There is a GoFundMe to help the family.  The original goal was $5,000.  At the time of this writing, it was up to almost $87,000.

There was a post of gratitude that said in part, "Words cannot fully express our gratitude for the support we’ve received as we navigate the immense loss of Jeremy. He was cherished by so many, and it fills our hearts to see how many lives he touched in our community. It’s clear he made a lasting impact and will never be forgotten."

Such a loss for our community.  Post your condolences here for the family or donate to the GoFundMe here.

Cole was only 49 years old.
