Fireworks Are Legal in New Hampshire

Live Free or Die, Baby!  Consumer fireworks are legal to purchase and use on private property in the State of New Hampshire, but the rule doesn't apply to all cities and towns, according to

However, it wouldn't be a 4th of July celebration without fireworks.  If you're looking for the best displays in New Hampshire, here are the top three in the state:

South Mill Pond, Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Date: July 3, 2024

According to, the firework display will be at 9:15pm at South Mill Pond (across from Portsmouth City Hall), with a rain date of Friday, July 5.  All are welcome.

Weirs Beach, Laconia, New Hampshire

Date: July 3, 2024

According to, this display has been the first Independence show in the entire state for over 70+ years.  They'll always have that title, right?  100 years from now, they'll still be the first one.

Hampton Beach, New Hampshire

Date: July 4, 2024

According to, Hampton Beach will have their fireworks on Thursday, July 4, 2024.  Thank goodness they are able to have them this year, as the piping plovers have moved on to a location farther away.

Hampton Beach will also have fireworks displays on Wednesday nights at 9:30pm (if the weather allows), with a rain date of the following Friday.

The Dog's Worst Night

Although most people really like a good fireworks display, some young people do not.  The big booms are just too loud for their little ears.  Dogs and cats aren't too thrilled with them either.  As a matter of fact, that's putting it lightly.  Dogs and cats, at least the ones that I have had in my life, hate them.
