Here’s 4 Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Businesses That Closed in 2025

There are a lot of "For Lease" signs in the windows of stores that closed in 2025 all around Market Square in Downtown Portsmouth, NH that we already miss.

Good Vibes, a/k/a the Life is Good Store Closed in 2025

Life is Good closed in February of 2025, if I recall.  All of their T-Shirts fit really well, are super soft and last a really long time.  I will miss this place, but they do have a great online store.

Ten Thousand Villages, Portsmouth, NH Closed in January 2025

Ten Thousand Villages was one of the those unique stores that I just loved shopping in.  The store still has their merchandise online, but you won't be able to see it, touch it and take it home right away.

Stonewall Kitchen Closed in Portsmouth, NH in 2025

We found out in January-ish, 2025 that one of the most iconic downtown stores in Portsmouth, Stonewall Kitchen, was closing from the Portsmouth, NH Facebook page. The store had been there for over two decades.  Lucky for us, we still have the outlet store in Kittery, Maine or Stonewall Kitchen Headquarters in York, Maine.

Puttin' on the Glitz Closed on Memorial Day Weekend, 2025

The last day for Puttin' on the Glitz was May 26, 2025 in the downtown Portsmouth location at 40 Market Street. I was there on the last day that the shop was open and the owner hinted that she "may" reopen somewhere else, but there's nothing definitive right now.

Book and Bar Closed at the End of January, 2025

This one was a tough loss for book nerds like me.  The Book and Bar at 40 Pleasant Street was a hip place where you could get a coffee and a nosh and hang until your heart was content with a book.

Howling Wolf Taqueria is there now and I hear really good things about that place too.

Growth of a city is hard for nostalgic types like me.  I'm sure I'll get used to the new places that go in before too long.
