5 Of The Best Places In Maine To Grab A Coffee And Go For A Walk With A Friend
Fitness doesn't always have to mean a hard workout or hours in the gym. Some of my favorite ways to move my body are honestly just grabbing a coffee, calling a friend, and getting outside somewhere beautiful in Maine.
1. Eastern Promenade Trail — Portland
This is probably the coffee walk. Grab coffee and walk along the ocean with views of Casco Bay. It feels like one of those places where you accidentally walk way longer than you planned because you keep stopping to look around.
Friend + fitness tip: Walking with a friend takes the pressure off trying to "work out." You end up moving your body without thinking about it and somehow solve half your life problems during the walk.
2. Back Cove Trail — Portland
Flat, easy, and one of the best loops if you want a longer walk without hiking. You get water views, runners, dogs, and good energy.
Friend + fitness tip: Walking after coffee is one of the easiest ways to get movement in without making it feel like cardio.
3. Bug Light Park — South Portland
Ocean views, lighthouse views, Portland skyline views, honestly a good "main character walk" spot.
Friend + fitness tip: Sometimes changing your scenery helps more than changing your routine.
4. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens — Boothbay
Walk through beautiful gardens, trails, and waterfront views that honestly make you slow down and appreciate where you are. It feels peaceful without trying too hard and is one of those places you can spend way more time at than you planned.
Friend + fitness tip: Fresh air and movement can completely change your mood, especially when you've been sitting inside all week.
5. Mount Battie — Camden
Not really a casual coffee walk anymore, but worth it. Grab coffee before and earn the views after.
Friend + fitness tip: Some of the best conversations happen when you're climbing something with someone instead of sitting across a table.
At the end of the day, movement can be simple. Sometimes a coffee, a walk, and good conversation end up being exactly what you needed. Some of the best days I've had honestly started with a coffee in my hand and nowhere specific I needed to be.
Walking with a friend, getting fresh air, and taking time to slow down can end up feeling just as good as crushing a workout. Maine gives us so many beautiful places to do that, and sometimes those small moments end up being the ones you remember the most.
