New England's largest botanical garden is nestled in beautiful Boothbay, Maine, and is about to open its doors for the 16th time. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will open on May 1.

According to Mainebiz, you can expect some big changes. The Botanical Gardens President and CEO, Gretchen Ostherr, told Mainebiz,

We are currently in the middle of a twenty-year plan aimed at deepening our mission impact through world-class horticulture, education, plant science and conservation. The next couple of years will see considerable evolution in our teams and physical spaces, and this fall, you will see the beginning of the construction of the Horticulture and Plant Science Center.

A newly renovated café is one major improvement. They have partnered with Newcastle-based Morning Dew Farm and Boothbay favorites Coastal Maine Popcorn Company and Betsy's Fancy Fudge. Don't worry, your favorite giant trolls will be back. Thomas Dambo's enormously popular interactive trolls were an addition a few years ago, and remain one of CMBG's most popular features.
