Well, it wasn’t the fairy-tale ending everyone in New England wanted, but it certainly was a season nobody will forget.

The New England Patriots ran into a wall named the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL and sadly lost 29–13. It officially ended one of the most unexpected seasons in Patriots history.

The New England Patriots Had an Epic Season in 2025

This was a season that began with a miserable loss at home to the Las Vegas Raiders and ended in the freaking Super Bowl. Just an unbelievable run by a team that showed grit and determination all year long.

It was truly a wonderful change from the year before, and one would have to think a change at the top was a huge factor. Mike Vrabel brought a different mentality to this team in his first year as head coach in Foxboro. He preached togetherness and accountability, two things that had been absent over the previous two years.

Drake Maye Grew a lot in his Second Season in the NFL

The season was also a major steppingstone for New England’s young quarterback, Drake Maye. While the youngster had some struggles in the playoffs and during the Super Bowl, it shouldn’t take away from what was a fantastic second year. He absolutely torched bad defenses and nearly won the MVP. Plus, Maye commanded the offense and truly showed growth in leadership.

The future is bright for this team, and with a few more pieces, it could be right back in the mix next year—even with a much more difficult schedule, at least on paper.
