At the very beginning of would be a historic and heartbreaking 3 day stretch during my 'Wonder Year' of 1986, The Chicago Bears crushed The New England Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX. January 26th 1986. THIRTY YEARS AGO TODAY?

It doesn't seem possible that all that time has passed. I can still remember all the different strategic ploys that my 7th grade friends came up with that would somehow help The Pats overcome the fact they were 10 point underdogs.

The funny thing is, one of those scenarios (cashing in on an early Bears turnover) came true and The Pats still lost by five plus touchdowns.

It would be another 11 years before our beloved Patriots would compete at that level again and 16 years before they would win it all. The Bears have only returned to 'The Big Game' once since then, losing Super Bowl XLI in 2007.

Looking back thirty years certainly helps to put the recent unpleasantness in perspective.
