According to wmur.com, Laconia, New Hampshire, beaches are in trouble.

Beaches in Laconia such as Weirs Beach, Bond Beach and Opechee Point are in desperate need for lifeguards and have had to take to posting signs alerting swimmers that they will be swimming at their own risk.

Empty lifeguard chairs have job information posted on them, according to the news station, and the city is even willing to pay for applicants to take the necessary lifesaving courses to attract applicants.

The job is not just for young teens that need summer jobs; it’s open to retirees.

All that is required if you are able to take and pass the required lifesaving course, WMUR reported.

We have an aging population and a lot of fit seniors that could do a fantastic job as lifeguards.  So, don’t be shy about your age.

Get out that and help keep Laconia, New Hampshire beaches safe.  You just may save a life.
