New Hampshire Sold a Million Dollar Winner

Oh to dream.....

One lucky New Hampshire Mega Millions player bought a ticket in Hooksett at the Common Man Welcome Center, Southbound on I-93 that was a million dollar winner, according to WMUR.

Think of what you could do with that kind of money.

According to Nerdwallet.com, your payout for $1 million dollar win is a lump sum of $760,000. Life changing.

New Hampshire, according to the same site, is one of the states that does not charge state tax for lottery winnings.  Another reason to love the 603!

Assuming you live in a modest house, maybe you have a mortgage balance left of say....  $300K or $400K.  That's just about half right there.  (and who wouldn't want to pay off their mortgage?)

Maybe you want a new dream car, ok - not my bag, but whatever, that'll eat up another $100K.

Then, you'll want that Summer home in Maine.  Okay, well, hate to break it to you, but you only have about $260K left.  Better look for something inland.

Where Does the New Hampshire Lottery Money Go?

I admit, I don't play the lottery often.  Most of the time, I feel like it's a waste of money, however, sometimes, like when the jackpot gets really high and I buy more than $5 worth, I have to remember that even if I lose, the money goes to funding education here in New Hampshire.

According to a Press Release from the NH Lottery, they have contributed more than $2.8 billion dollars to NH education.
