Missing Exeter, NH Teens Found Safe

Two Exeter teens missing for a week have been located in Indiana after being involved in a car crash on Friday afternoon.

Exeter Police Chief Stephan R. Poulin said Jonathan Wood, 15, and Jenna Smith, 14, rear-ended another vehicle on U.S. Route 231 at the intersection of County Route 700 in Greencastle, Indiana around 1:30 p.m.

Greencastle is located between Indianapolis and Terre Haute, just north of Interstate 70.

Wood and Smith are in the custody of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office until their parents pick them up.

“This has been a very difficult time for their family and friends and we’re thankful they were located and no one was injured in the accident that occurred earlier today in Indiana,” Poulin said.

Poulin thanked the many people who contacted the police department to share tips and other information during the multi-day search effort.

The chief did not disclose where the teens had been or why they were in Indiana.

“We are so happy to hear that Jenna and John have been found unharmed in Indiana after a week-long search. We are thankful to the Exeter Police Department, Indiana law enforcement, and all corresponding agencies for their action and diligence in this process to help find our two students," SAU 16 Superintendent Dr. David Ryan said in a statement. "We are so happy for the Smith and Wood families as these have been incredibly difficult days for them, and we join them in celebrating this news.”

Wood and Smith went missing late on Feb. 11 and were traveling in a 2016 Honda CRV that belong to a family member.
