Nashua, New Hampshire

Nashua, New Hampshire born, Paul Levesque, a/k/a Triple H, (Hunter Hearst Helmsley) was/is one of the all time great wrestlers in the WWE by creating a character that the fans loved to hate.  He also climbed the corporate ladder behind the scenes.

Mr. McMahon, a documentary now running on Netflix, tells the story of the conflict between Triple H and Vince McMahon over a hug between wrestlers after a match.

Remember when Triple H first went into the ring?  People from New Hampshire were so excited to see one of our own in the ring, even though his character was from Connecticut.  He went on to become a multi-time world champion and headlined WrestleMania on more than one occasion, if I remember correctly.

Throughout his career, Triple H became a big player backstage as well.  He aligned himself with all the key players, including Vince.

At the end of one match, according to the netflix.com, four wrestlers shared a hug.  Apparently, that display of "we are really friends" outside of the ring was a forbidden act.  The wrestlers were never, ever allowed to "pull back the curtain" and confirm to the fans that the story line is just that; a story.

Because of that, Vince told Triple H, "You're going to have to learn to eat shit and like the taste of it."  (eww)

There was also a special pay-per-view event that Triple H was supposed to be the winner of, but that was pulled from him as well.

Triple H's status in the WWE was then replaced by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Imagine that, being punished for a hug. Just doesn't seem right to me.

Before Vince McMahon became the "character" that he was in the WWE/WWF, I was an avid fan.  I knew the stories were fake, but who really cared.  Vince, however, took the whole thing too far and I had to check out.

There are so many stories about Triple H that were not covered in the documentary, like his relationship with Chyna, real name Joannie Laurer.  The couple resided in Londonderry, New Hampshire until Joannie's death in 2016.  (I think it was Londonderry.  Let me know if I am wrong.)

Triple H is now the CCO of the WWE.  That's a long way from the Gate City.
