New England Needs To Stop Eating These 7 Foods Immediately

There are some things that we should just not be eating for one reason or another.  Some are ethical reasons, some are because there are ingredients that are considered to be a carcinogen.  New Englanders need to stop eating them immediately.

Flamin' Hot Cheetos

As much as I hate to say it, Flamin' Hot Cheetos are not good for you, to say the least. According to stacker.com, the tasty snack contains Red Dye #40, Yellow Dye #5 and Yellow Dye #6.  Food dyes are made from petroleum, according to healthline.com and although there have been studies that a certain amount of food dye is not harmful, THEY ARE MADE OUT OF PETROLEUM.  So, no.

WalMart brand soda, Mountain Lighting

Yes, it tastes delicious.  This Walmart brand soda is made with brominated vegetable oil.  According to today.com, Walmart is working to take it out of this product and other products that use the same thing.

Swan Meat

Although my vegetarian friends would say what's the difference between eating a turkey and a swan, I would say, there's a big difference.  One is an endangered species (the swan) and the other one walks right in front of our cars going down Route 4 in Durham.  (the wild turkeys)  Trumpeter swans specifically are illegal to hunt and eat here in New England and in much of the U.S.

Brie Cheese

If you have authentic brie, you probably have a product that is made with raw, unpasteurized milk, which the FDA has banned.  Why risk it?   There are other kinds of cheeses for you that won't reek havoc on your digestive system.

Beluga Caviar

I have never tried this in my life, but people with more money to spend on caviar than me really like it.  A container cost $3,495.  People like it so much, despite the price, it led to the overfishing of the beluga sturgeon, which is now a protected species and the caviar is illegal in the U.S.

Horse Meat

Ew.  Sadly, it's not illegal to eat horse meat in the U.S.  It is illegal to slaughter horses, however, so, by default, you can't eat it or export it.  China has the largest market for horse meat, according to eathis.com.  Good to know.

Absinthe

This product is not illegal to sell in New Hampshire, however, one of the ingredients is highly addictive and it's known to be a hallucinogen.  Opt for the tequila instead.
