New Englanders Have Strong Opinions About Grocery Store Carts

This woman is getting ripped to shreds online for openly saying on Instagram that she is not going to return her shopping carriage to the cart return after she loads her groceries and kids into the car.  New Englanders shared their opinions.

Many New Englanders were upset by her admission.  Here are a few examples of what people were saying:

• One follower, Amber, said that she worked at a grocery store.  One time, she was putting groceries into a a car when a gust of wind came along and blew the carriage right into a BMW.  There was a significant chip in the paint.  Amber went on to say that putting carriages away may prevent things like that from happening.  She ended her quote by saying, "it's common courtesy."

• Kerry said that it really depends on the situation.  Maybe the woman was worried that the kids would be abducted, or maybe some people have trouble walking and couldn't put the cart away.

• Most of the comments, however, were similar to Robbie's comment, saying the woman should treat others the way she wants to be treated.  Robbie went on to say that this woman would be the first to file a lawsuit if a cart hit her car.  He also said that putting the cart away is common courtesy.

This is Not a Popular Opinion

Although this woman put her thoughts on Instagram for all to see (and it did look like she had an attitude about it), I am okay with her not putting her carriage in the cart return.  Here's why:

• Yes, I know it's common courtesy to do it.
• Yes, I know it's a good lesson for the kids to learn when they get older.
• Yes, depending on what kind of day it is, the carriage "could" run into a car and cause damage. But there's a big ol' BUT coming next.

If you notice that someone is not putting their carriage away, why not do it for them?  You never know what people are going through.  This woman in the video says how she doesn't want to leave her kids in the car while she puts the carriage away.  Okay, she could take her kids with her to return the cart, but what if she has had a particularly hard day and she just can't?  Or maybe something happened to her and she is just trying to deal.  I'm gonna give her a pass.  There are bigger things to worry about in the world.  For me, shopping carts ain't one of those things.
