We have been so lucky to have such talented chefs here in New Hampshire.  From my own flesh and blood, the O.G. Yankee Chef, John Sullivan to Chef Bobby Marcotte who was just on "Beat Bobby Flay" on the Food Network, to Michael Buckley, owner and chef of Surf and many other outstanding restaurants in the Granite State.

We are also proud to have Chef Chris Viaud, a James Beard Finalist, twice nominated and he was also on TopChef, Season 18.  Chris has made the difficult decision to close two of his restaurants here in New Hampshire.

This Milford, NH Location Was the First for This Chef

Chris made the announcement that he was closing Greenleafs in Milford, New Hampshire in August of 2025.  In that Instagram post, Chef said of the Elm Street location:

This space has been a catalyst for my career and many others and I’m grateful for what we were able to build over the past 6 1/2 years.....  As we flip this page I look forward to the future and the many opportunities that lay ahead.

NH Chef Decides to Close 2nd Restaurant This Month

Chef Viaud has also made the decision to close Pavilion Fine Dining in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.  The last day of service will be Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Here's what Chef said about the Pavilion closing on the Pavilionwolfeboro Instagram account:

....the complications of operating a restaurant at this level on a seasonal basis became highly unstable and unsustainable. We will forever cherish our memories built in this building and continue to look forward to the future.

If you have never been in the food service industry, it's hard to imagine how much work it is.  Every chef wants to put their best food forward, with the best staff, but to execute that properly can be very difficult.  As a James Beard finalist, there is no way that Chef Viaud will stop cooking.  I can't wait to see what he does next.

All the best to Chef Viaud and his family.  In the end, you have to do what is best for yourself.  Maybe he'll open up a Haitian restaurant close to me, say, Dover, NH?
