New Wellness-Themed Maine Hotel in the Heart of Portland Named As One of the Best in the World

At first look, this is not the hotel I would have picked as one of the best in the World.  But when I took a closer look and talked to one of my friends about it, I can't wait to book my stay.

Portland, Maine is one of my favorite cities in the U.S.  It's hip, diverse culture and beautiful scenery calls me back time and time again.

According to esquire.com, the Longfellow Hotel in the heart of Portland is one of the Best Hotels in the World.

Spa Services in Portland, Maine

The spa at the Longfellow is what sets this hotel apart from the others.

I was talking to a friend of mine about the hotel and he said his daughter used to work in the spa and she described it as, "Unbelievably beautiful."

You can get pampered from head to toe here.  The menu of services includes a signature massage including, "intention setting, warm salt stones, tuning forks and massage."

Portland is crowded in the Warmer Months

The City has several cruise ships that dock on Commercial Street in Portland, dumping several hundred people into the Old Port.  On a beautiful Spring/Summer day, merchants have to brace themselves for the onset of people and make sure their credit card machine is working.

Portland, Maine is a Foodie Town

If you are looking for a place to restaurant hop, Portland is one of those cities.  It is filled with the best restaurants in the world.

My favorites, in no particular order:

• Scales
• Duckfat
• Fore Street

The Esquire article said that rooms start at $169. When I searched the rates, there were some close to that amount, however, I saw rates that were much higher than that, especially after Memorial day.

The address of the Longfellow Hotel is on Congress Street, which is not far from the "Old Port."  You could walk there depending on your ability.

Your Dog is Welcome at the Longfellow

A "wellness-themed" hotel could not be that way without welcoming our best furry friends.  Dogs are always welcome on the third floor.  The hotel will also provide goodies for your pooch, including treats!
