Well, this is going to be a bummer for some.  These New Hampshire towns have moved the trick or treat times due to expected rain on Thursday.

According to WMUR, the towns of Portsmouth, New Castle and Newington have moved their trick or treat times from Thursday to tomorrow, Wednesday, October 29, 2025.  In Newmarket and Rochester, their trick or treating celebrations are now going to be on Friday instead of Thursday.

The WMUR article quotes Monte Bohanan, the Portsmouth Director of Communications and Community Engagement who said:

Little kids aren't going to be out in the wet, in the gross, on Thursday.  By all reports, it looks like it is going to be absolutely miserable on Thursday, torrential rain, and high winds on Saturday as well. So, it's unfortunate, and I don't think everybody's going to be happy with the change.

Although it won't make everyone happy, think about if they did have trick or treat in the rain.  The kids would be cold and wet and probably not get as much candy if they went on a night that it was clear.  They might give up before getting the big, huge Kit Kat bars and what fun would that be.

Another thing about going out in the rain, you know that the parents are going to cover up the kids costume with rain gear, so it's a better idea to wait until it's clear.

NH Kids Can Go To More Than One Town for Trick or Treating

Here's an idea for you, if you can only go on Thursday night, there are towns that are keeping that date for their festivities.  No one says you have to stay in your town to grab your share of sweet stuff!
