NH Writer/Director For Mr. Rogers Reacts To Trailer Out Today
Durham's own, Paul Lally, who has become a wonderful friend, was the writer/director for Mr. Rogers Neighborhood for approximately 10 years. He is currently the Executive Producer for Ciao Italia with our own, Mary Ann Esposito, filmed right here in Durham.
When I saw the Trailer for "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood," just out today, I had to call him immediately. Here's his reaction to my enthusiasm:
"That makes me happy. Wonderful. That'll make Fred happy and also Tom Hanks." I've got my fingers crossed for this. The woman who directed it is a power house."
I had to look up the woman he was talking about:
Turns out, the Director of the film is Marielle Heller, who also directed "Can You Ever Forgive Me," starring Melissa McCarthy. An amazing film about Lee Isreal, a writer who pretended to be writer Fanny Brice, among others, and sell the writings to book stores in the New York area. Wonderful film. I can't wait to see what she'll do with this film.
If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check this out:
I'm gonna need an entire box of tissues for this film. Can't wait!
