Book lovers of the world, I have found your Nirvana.

This Boston, Massachusetts bookstore established in 1825, is one of the businesses still going strong to this day.  But there's only one that I know of, the Brattle Book Shop, that has a magical outdoor book alley.

3 Floors of Books in this Boston Bookstore

The Brattle Book Shop has three floors of books. If you like bookstores, you will want to spend the entire day here.  Some customers literally come in every single day.

The alley is open year 'round.  The only time that they don't put the books out is if Mother Nature will destroy them with rain or snow, but otherwise, you will find racks and racks of books.

You could literally spend hours just browsing the books in the alley on every subject.  One of the employees of the Brattle said that they specialize in not specializing. Every type of book you can imagine is here.

Boston Book Expert and the FBI

The current family owners, the Gloss family, have been the proprietors since 1949. Ken Gloss is the "go to" guy to appraise books of all kinds.  He's done just that for several places like Harvard, Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern, Suffolk, Tufts, Babson and the FBI.

Yes, the FBI.  Honestly, I didn't think the FBI had anything other than computers and surveillance equipment, but what do I know.

Ken has also been on Antiques Roadshow. If you are not familiar with the show, people bring their stuff to have it assessed to see if it's worth money.  I'm hooked.

Ken does make appearances from time to time, so if you have an old book in your attic, you might want to bring it to one of his talks.  You could be sitting on a goldmine.

Five Things We Love About Jeff Kinney and His Massachusetts Bookstore

He has sold over 300 million copies of his Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, yet author Jeff Kinney still lives a pretty lowkey life.
The husband and father of two is also a local bookstore owner, running an independent shop in Plainville, MA that is as unlikely as it's name.
