One of the Most Expensive Grocery Stores in the US Has 3 Locations in New Hampshire
I don't have to tell you that feeding people has become super expensive. Prices have skyrocketed like we've never seen before. How did a dozen eggs end up costing $5? People of all income levels have become more aware of how much they are spending at the grocery store.
New Hampshire, according to Delish.com, has three locations of the second most expensive grocery store in the country
- Whole Foods in Bedford, New Hampshire
- Whole Foods in Portsmouth, New Hampshire
- Whole Foods in Nashua, New Hampshire
The Whole Foods in Nashua used to be DeMoulas Supermarket, then Market Basket. When Market Basket eventually moved further down Amherst Street in Nashua, Whole Foods came in.
According to the article, some of the factors that contribute to high prices are:
- The Supply Chain – How easy/hard is it for the products to be manufactured and delivered to the store itself.
- The Cost of Living – If gas prices go up, the food supply cost goes up.
- Quality of Ingredients – Yes, you can get a tasty meal at a fast food place, but the quality of the food at a more expensive joint might be better.
- Other Supermarket Competitors – Oh yes, they watch each other. If one grocery store is charging $10 for a loaf of bread and people are buying it, the other store may increase the price of their bread too.
Why Do I Love Whole Foods So Much?
I have to say, I love shopping at Whole Foods. I don't do it often, because...well, that's easy to understand. I like my money. But when I do, I have to admit, it's the feeling that I get when I walk in. Like I'm somewhere special.
Whole Foods has special items that you just don't see anywhere else. If there is a special occasion at my house, sometimes I'll head to the Whole Foods in Bedford, New Hampshire. It's a doubly whammy when you go to Whole Foods in Bedford. That town is expensive just to drive through.
The number one most expensive store, Erewhon, was founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1966. It's now based out of California.
