On Thursday, the Center for Coastal studies spotted two right whale calves swimming with their mother in Cape Cod Bay off Massachusetts, according to Fox News.

The news station reported that researchers say these whales are among the rarest in the world.

An endangered species of whale is experiencing a mini baby boom right here in our back yard. How cool is that?

No calves were seen last year, according to Fox News, so that's a big deal. In fact, seven right whale calves have been seen this year.

The whales travel to feeding grounds off New England in the spring, the news station reported.

I've been whale watching before but never had the opportunity to see a whale close up. I'm gonna have to give it another shot here in New England.
