Parents Outraged: Some Maine School Buses Deemed Unsafe to Drive
Some parents in Maine are very angry after discovering that State Police have taken several school buses off the road after determining they were unsafe to drive.
NEWS CENTER Maine says the buses were deemed unsafe after a surprise inspection by Maine State Police. The six buses are part of the RSU 71 district. Other buses in that district had to start doubling up on their runs, but some children were forced to wait longer out int the cold to get to and from their schools.
Obviously, parents are deeply concerned with these latest developments because just a couple of months ago, school had to be cancelled for Swanville students due to the fact there weren't enough bus drivers.
The NEWS CENTER Maine article says Superintendent Mary Alice Mclean released a statement which in part read:
'As superintendent of schools I am conducting a thorough investigation into the reasons behind the buses' removal from circulation and the inspection sticker irregularity, as well putting forth a plan for structural changes in the areas of transportation and maintenance in our school district.
The safety of all of our students is my highest priority as well as the timely and reliable transportation of students to and from school and school activities. I will continue to update the community as my investigation moves forward.'
