After weeks of tabled discussions, Portsmouth City Council finally ended Uber's proposed changes to the existing laws on Monday.

It's back to the drawing board for the Free Uber movement!

The major sticking point for Uber was asking that the city change the background check requirement from 15 to 7 years in addition to other provisions.

Uber does it's own background checks, and provides it's own insurance and to these drivers that is enough. The city, however, disagrees.

SeacoastOnline has great coverage and in-depth analysis of the latest city council meeting that essentially killed Uber's movement for the year.

I'm guessing these folks will not go quietly into the night however. They are hell bent on getting Uber into Portsmouth and I can't blame them.
