Portsmouth City Council voted to legalize ride sharing services on Monday night. However, there was one small amendment voted on that will have potential Uber drivers chomping at the bit.

According to a SeacoastOnline article, the new ride sharing ordinance that was passed will not take effect for 45 days. The delay will give the city a chance to figure out logistics.

For drivers, they'll need insurance and to provide a background check to the city clerk.

I'm looking for the new change in transportation services in Portsmouth. I think any time you can add more choices only improves the city overall. I have never used Uber before and I can't wait to try it out.

Welcome to the future Portsmouth! Hopefully more towns in the area will follow suit.
