Lonza Biologics is potentially expanding on Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth.  If they get approval, it could create about 1,000 jobs!!  According to Seacoast Online, the plans have to be approved by the City of Portsmouth, Pease and Lonza themselves.

The article also says that Lonza makes supplies for the pharmaceutical and biotech industry and has been doing so since it began in 1897 in the Swiss Alps.  Locally, Lonza employs about 800 people, which seems like a big number until you realize that globally, the company employs about 14,500, according to Seacoast Online.  That's a LOT of pretzels for pretzel day.

If you do get hired by Lonza, keep in mind that you'll need to know a few things that you may not have thought about:  When I got this new gig at The Shark, I thought I knew exactly what the job was, but then, I discovered that maybe, just maybe, I'm not so smart about everything.  First, I had to find out where the bathroom was.  Admittedly, that wasn't a problem, but one day, my phone died and I had to use the landline.  For the life of me, I could not figure out how to dial the PHONE!  For the love of Pete and all that is holy, what kind of people have we become?!  After I fought with the damn thing for a good hour or so, A-Train told me, "Just dial 9 first."  I'm gonna put that on a T-Shirt.

Good luck with the new gig and remember, Just Dial 9.
