If you grew up in New Hampshire, chances are, you know how pretty it is.  We get all four seasons here, however, the Winter is most definitely the longest and sometimes, when the snow is just right and you're outside taking it all in, there's nothing like it.

There are several towns in the 603 that might be considered the "Prettiest to Visit" in the winter, however, three that made it on a list with the moniker, "Prettiest to Visit in the Winter" according to loveexploring.com.  They are:

1.  Littleton, New Hampshire

Littleton is one of our famous mill towns, which gives the town a rich history.  The website describes the shopping along Main Street and the World's Longest candy counter at the Chutters General Store.  Of course, there are ski shops and a cool craft brewery on the Ammonoosuc River.

2.  North Conway, New Hampshire

North Conway has long been known as a ski town in New Hampshire.  It's located just before you get to the White Mountains.  If you're a skiier, this is the place where you can buy your gear, rent a hotel and ski the finest mountains.  Don't miss the Conway Scenis Railway while you're there.

3.  Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Portsmouth is near and dear to my heart.  Pretty in any season and not just for Summer.  As a matter of fact, winter in Portsmouth gives you the opportunity to see our beautiful town without that many tourists.  Make time to visit the Portsmouth Historic Society and try one of our many excellent restaurants.

There are other towns in New Hampshire that I would acknowledge for this list, although they didn't make it.  For instance;

  • Temple, New Hampshire: My brother lives in Temple and every time I drive through in the Winter, I just can't help but think it comes out of a Norman Rockwell painting.
  • Hollis, New Hampshire:  Ahhh, beautiful Hollis.  My other brother lives in Hollis.  (we're all over the place, I know...) I grew up there and to this day, it is the pretty no matter what the season, but after a snow storm it can be magical.
  • Candia, New Hampshire:  I have no relatives who live in Candia, but I used to.  Does that count?  One morning I woke up and I saw a family of moose in my backyard.

Where in New Hampshire do you think is the "prettiest in the winter?"
