I put OFFICIAL in all caps because I was lucky enough to judge this event Saturday night. As you can see here, I really had a lot of work to do.

There were 14 different chowders and chilis to choose from at this very successful first time event for The Rochester Elks and hundreds arrived to chow down and vote for their favorites.

Best Chili 'Judge's Choice' : UniDine at Frisbie Memorial Hospital

Dan from UniDine is seen above with THE best chili according to myself and the other two esteemed and anonymous judges on the panel.

A fantastic Con Carne with a great consistency and the perfect amount of kick.

Best Chowder 'Judge's Choice' Rochester Elks Seafood Chowder

Keep in mind, this was a double blind taste test so there was no possibility of favoritism or politics. The Elks Seafood Chowder was a jackpot of the best 'fruits de mer' and they blended ever so wonderfully in my two ounce styrofoam cup.

Best Chili AND Chowder 'Peoples Choice'  Lilac City Grille

Absolute domination from the 103 North Main Street hotspot!

Their Cider Braised Brisket Chili received the most votes of any dish served at the competition and their outstanding chowder won as well.

Thanks to The Rochester Elks for inviting me to judge. It was a terrific night and I certainly hope you invite me to do so again next year! Please? Pretty Please?!
