Should the NHIAA step in and award Salem High School the victory after this video clearly shows the ball going through the net?

When Salem High School hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer, trailing Winnacunnet by two, they thought they had won the game. Unfortunately, the referees had other plans.

Anyone with a brain can see that the ball goes through the net in the video. So what was the problem? Seacoast Online's Jay Pinsonnault's twitter feed tells the story:

The ref said the ball never went in?!? Listen I've missed my fair share of 3-pointers. I know what it looks like to get nothing but net, only under the rim, and not through it. These refs should know what that looks like as well. They're officiating high school basketball, I'm sure it happens all the time.

The NHIAA has video evidence and now they supposedly have acknowledgement by Winnacunnet that Salem should be the team with a W next to their name in the record books. The plot thickens.

Kudos to my almater for doing what's right. Let's hope it catches on, and the NHIAA gives Salem their due.

As of Wednesday, the Schedule & Results page still has WHS as the winner.
