Playing Shark in the Park 2024: ROSIE

Shark in the Park 2024 is a free community concert series on Wednesday nights throughout the months of July and August at Henry Law Park in Dover, New Hampshire, from 6-8pm.

Our last band of the series is ROSIE!
Who doesn't love this band?  They just make people happy with some kickass rock and roll.  If you've never seen them, you must be new.  Come on down to the show.  You're gonna love 'em.
Here are the band members:
  • Hank Decken: Lead Guitarist, Songwriter, Vocalist
  • AL SILVA: Drummer, Merchandising King, Band Graphic Artist
  • Tim Matthews: Bassist, Vocalist
  • Geoff Safford: Rhythm Guitarist, Vocalist
I asked the band a few questions that you might not know about this group, which has been together for 44 years.
Q:  What was the best gig you ever did?
A: "A multi-band showcase in New York City at the world-renowned RITZ!"
Q:  What was the worst gig you ever did?
A: "A one-night stand in a Massachusetts club that will remain nameless.  We were booked by an agent there, but they didn't like our music.  We ended early and got docked half our pay.  Never went back!!!"
Q:  Did you ever lose any of your equipment before a show?
A: "Not before a show, but Hank lost all his guitars and stage gear in a night fire at the Pickle Barrell in North Conway years ago.  Remember that?"
Q:  Did you ever forget to bring your amp, guitar, sticks, etc?
A:  "I (Al) forgot my HI- Hat cymbals once, and played all the songs on the ride cymbal!"
Q:  What was your favorite gig of all time?
A: "We did a show for the Boston VA Hospital a few years ago.  It was so emotional & rewarding for me & the band to entertain & play music for them. I was tearing up during most of the show.  Got to meet the Vets after the show and chat with them."
Q:  Have you ever played for someone famous?
A:  "I (Al) did a recording session with members of FOGHAT in New York City in 1999 for one 12-song demo. I got to record the songs on the house drum kit owned by ERIC CARR of KISS."
Check out this HILARIOUS (a.k.a. ROCKIN') video from 1984 on YouTube when Rosie was doing a gig at the Panaway Club in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, hosted by Boston's 104.1, WBCN (may it rest in peace).

Shark in the Park is proudly sponsored by Hilltop Fun Center, Route 108 in Somersworth, New Hampshire.

See you on August 7 for Rosie, Live!  The show is from 6-8pm at Henry Law Park in Dover, New Hampshire.

In the event of rain, the show will be postponed until Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Same times, same place.  Check out our Facebook page for updates.
