The Blue Ocean Society in Portsmouth is one of our Year of Service partners and this week is an important one for them and for us.  It's World Oceans Week celebrating the beautiful waters of the world!

Tomorrow, there are many virtual events scheduled to celebrate, including the Blue Ocean Society's RUN FOR THE OCEAN 5K and this year, you can participate wherever you are.

According to blueoceansociety.org, they will be awarding prizes for men, women and children in all age categories.  The fun keeps going with awards for best costume, best pet costume if you want to run with your pet and prizes for the participant who looks most like a whale!  (I could insert my own self-deprecating joke here, but.... I like my saucy minx self today....)

Also, according to PortsmouthNH.com, tomorrow, you can also learn about plants and animals the live along the shore of Odiorne Point State Park.

Although many of the events are free, there are some that require pre-registration and payment with proceeds going to marine wildlife conservation.

If you've ever stood on the beach staring at the vast ocean and felt it's power, you must know how important keeping them healthy is.  For many people, me included, going to the beach is a stress reliever.  Any problems that are happening in the world, and there are too many to count right now, it seems like just a little while staring at the beautiful waters of the ocean is a cure-all.  The only thing that might creep in to make that experience not so pleasant is low tide.   STINKY!

Happy World Oceans Week!
