Let's go!

Luxury Airbnb Properties on Martha's Vineyard

I don't know about you, but whenever I see luxurious rental properties like this beauty listed on Airbnb, I try to think of a way to stay there on a budget, even if the price tag is higher than I could afford (or want to shell out).

Since this former church off the coast of Cape Cod on Martha's Vineyard is one of those places, I did the math for us.  And when I say "us," I mean it, because I don't want to do this alone.  It's pricey, but lovely.

So I know we haven't even chosen the dates yet, but this is my room.  It has everything you would need; a dining room, bed, living room, and wood stove.  It's the chandelier that does it for me, though.

The grounds of the property are just lovely.  I mean, it's on Martha's Vineyard, so I think there's some local rule that says something like, "If you or your property isn't fabulous, you have to leave."

Here's another wood stove and a really cool light fixture.  Someone with really good taste designed this house.

Look at us there.  You with your glass of cognac alongside me and my brandy, laughing with our closest friends who are just as cheap as us.

The former church is located in Tisbury, Massachusetts, which is off the coast of the "elbow" of Cape Cod.  You have to take one of the many ferries in the area to get to it.

The price of the property varies depending on what time of the year you go.  During the summer, the place will run you about $1,000 per night, with a three-night minimum stay.  It's a little less in the fall, then the prices come down a bit during the winter season.  As far as I could tell, the least expensive rate is about $700 per night (still a three-night minimum).

So, lemme do the math for you:

  • About $1000 per night, three-night minimum equals $3,000, divided by six people equals about $500 per person.
  • If you go at a time when the cost is $700 per night, three-night minimum, with six people in your party, you could get away with $350 per person.

Not too shabby, right?  I'm all about living the good life on a budget.  Think of it this way.  Even if you have to pay the whole kitten-caboodle of $3,000 for three days, that's probably the cost of the property taxes for, like...a week.  Imagine being responsible for all the costs of the upkeep.

Now I just have to find five friends.
