In this era where everyone should be downloading their entertainment through a hula hologram wrist strap nuclear DVR accelerator WIFI device to view when they damn well please, almost 7 million people (in the 18-49 demo) watched 'It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown' on TV, and did so WHEN it was actually ON.

I'm sure programmers are flummoxed but thrilled and so am I. I think this 1966 special is just as funny as is was when I watched it as a kid but I have a couple improvements that I think will really put 'Good Ole Charlie Brown' over the top.

I realize that this program is on ABC now but nobody would complain if this glorious chunk of audiovisual retro gold preceded the playing of the special every year. Throw the ABC logo on it and baby boomers and Gen X-ers would herd around the TV like Pavlov's dogs.

Another adjustment I'd make is to play the special a few days before Halloween. If the goal is to maximize nostalgia around a Halloween special...how truly Halloweeny can one feel on October 15th? Good Grief!

On a local note, does anyone from the seacoast NH area remember the most unfortunate occurrence in the mid 1990's when this program's picture was fine but the sound was blaring white noise? Since my family are all hardcore 'Peanuts' fans, we improvised and played the LP version (oh yeah) and synced it up way better than any Oz/Floyd party I've ever been to!
