Apparently this news is spreading slowly.

Bridge

The bridge was replaced and the route has been re-opened for a few weeks now, but some of the merchants, who saw their business fall off, don't think that everybody knows about it.

In an article at seacoastonline, Bob Neily, from the Bypass Gas Station at 955 Route 1 Bypass, says:

"We’re hearing from the folks coming in that they didn’t know the bridge was reopened. We used to do $90,000 to $100,000 a month. When the bridge was closed the top month was $58,000.”

Neily said business is “coming back slowly,” but he still worries that many people don’t know about the bridge reopening, which hurts businesses on the Route 1 Bypass. There’s only a few ways out of the downtown, either by Market Street or the Maplewood Avenue Bridge. Before the bridge closed we would get slammed every day with people leaving work downtown.”

So spread the word! The Maplewood Avenue Bridge is open and should not only ease congestion getting in and out of Portsmouth, but should help these local businesses get back on their feet.

It's a win-win!
