The Wicked Witch From ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Had A Home In Maine

"The Wizard of Oz" from 1939 is a movie most people on Planet Earth have seen. Did you know that the wicked witch of the west from Oz lived in Maine?

Actress Margaret Hamilton (1902-1985) had a summer home on Cape Island near Southport Island, according to the Portland Monthly. Hamilton's son told the magazine his mother was doing a show in Brunswick when she heard the Coast Guard was selling lighthouses, so she bought one on an island that looks across Cape Harbor.
