A donor who wishes to remain anonymous has come through big time.

Yesterday, the Strawbery Banke Museum made the announcement that the Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond will be open this weekend from 9a-9p Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This announcement comes a day after it was announced that the rink would be closed due to due to problems with the ice chiller, that perhaps was the work of vandalism.

According to Seacoastonline:

Stephanie Seacord, director of marketing communications for the museum, said it received an $8,000 donation of glycol, an organic fluid used in the tubing of ice rinks, which led to the change in plans.

“What’s particularly nice about it is that it gives us the glycol to open next season, too,” Seacord said Tuesday.

Apparently museum officials heard from many in the community who expressed concern about the circumstances that lead to the potential early closing of the rink.

This anonymous donation is a HUGE example of why the Portsmouth community is highly regarded, but it should be noted that it's not the only Seacoast community that is generous in spirit, which is why many of us choose to call it home.
