I know... it's not even Fall yet.  That starts on September 22nd, but if you live here in New England, you need to know.

What is the Winter Going to be Like Here in New England?

Is it weird that I get excited to get the Farmers' Almanac every year?  I just love it.  Not only does it tell us how much snow we are in for, but how cold it will be, and if we travel, we can find out how the weather is going to be in other parts of the country.  Any true New Englander would never go a year without one.

Will There Be Snow?

Most every Winter here in New England we see snow, for sure, but some winters are harder to take than others.  The snow can start around Halloween and not let go until April.  If you've lived here all your life, you know what I'm talking about.

At the end of January, the almanac is "raising red flags" for winter storms, a/k/a "Blizzards" in the Northeast during the second week of January, at the end of February, the Almanac predicts a "Winter Whopper," and in March, heavy snow, rain or a wintry mix of both.

Will There Be Cold Temps?

Here in the East, temps will range from near to somewhat below normal, especially in February.  March will bring few and far between warmer days.  The vernal equinox on March 20 will be unseasonably cold, so yes, buy that new cute hat that you just saw online.  You're going to need it.

Find Out About Mercury in Retrograde

The Farmer's Almanac is jam-packed full of useful information.  It tells you the stages of the moon, for instance, when is Mercury in retrograde?  I'm not even sure what that means, but I know that if that happens, watch out!  Things can go awry very quickly!

The Farmer's Almanac is headquartered in Lewiston, Maine.
