Owners of the Windham Restaurant  in Windham, NH were no doubt terrified when they got a call this past week that their eatery was on fire.

Sahal and Karolyn Laher, the owners of the property say that they love the Windham, NH community and will return "bigger and better."

According to WMUR, the owners have spent the last 2 1/2 years working hard to build the business, so when they saw the damage to the kitchen and the back of the restaurant, they were in shock.

The Windham Restaurant is Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Remember the TV show, Cheers, where everybody knows your name?  That's what it was like going into the Windham.  The staff felt more like family than restaurant workers.

There is a GoFundMe that has been started for the employees of the Windham.  At last look, it was over $20K.  Hopefully, the restaurant will be up and running soon so they don't lose staff.

The GoFund Me states:

....their greatest concern (the owners) is for their incredible team of employees, who now face an indefinite period without income.   Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly to the staff who have been the heart and soul of Windham Restaurant.
On the Windham Restaurant's Facebook page, they had so many people expressing their support.
Thanks for the assurance that you'll rise again...... Hopefully we'll be together again soon. Looking forward to updates on the progress that's upcoming & looking forward to the " Cheers of Windham"

Thank goodness no one was inside at the time of the fire and no one was injured.  The cause is still being investigated.

The restaurant was built in a very old, beautiful house.  The menu was upscale, but you could always "come as you are."

The 2nd floor had/has a very cool Speakeasy where you could hang out and have one or two martinis and stay all night.  Well, until they had to go home, that is.

I have no doubt they will come back better than ever.
